AntiCollision serves as an advanced ship simulator featuring realistic, real-time ship behavior integrated with a RADAR/ARPA simulator. This dual-function tool allows users to take command of their vessel, facilitating practical experiences in collision avoidance.

Designed particularly for junior deck officers preparing for their examinations, AntiCollision offers valuable hands-on experience in managing close-quarter situations with other ships.

The ARPA simulator is equipped to activate up to six targets, allowing users to set individual parameters including range, bearing, course, and speed. Alternatively, there is the option for the application to generate these targets with random parameters.

A notable feature of the app is the ARPA scenario chooser, which includes seven predefined scenarios. Selecting a scenario automatically configures target ships into situations that challenge users to navigate their vessel back to safety. Users retain control over their main engine and can choose between autopilot and manual steering modes.

The simulator utilizes a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) model, which users can configure to represent either a fully loaded or ballast condition.

Any data entered regarding the six ARPA target ships is saved within the app for future sessions. The RADAR interface displays all targets in either relative or true motion, allowing users to obtain pertinent information such as Closest Point of Approach (CPA), Time to Closest Point of Approach (TCPA), course, and speed for each vessel. The cursor functionality provides additional details on range and bearing for selected targets.

The RADAR functionality also includes an option to visualize trails, providing an overview of both the user’s ship and target tracks.

In terms of ship maneuvering, AntiCollision incorporates a precise real-time maneuvering model that accurately simulates real ship behavior. The autopilot unit offers customization options; users can adjust parameters to refine steering characteristics and can visualize these adjustments through graphical representation.

Regarding rudder control, users have the flexibility to select between one or two steering motors and can set rudder limits as well as rate of turn limits when operating in autopilot mode.
